Tower of Design Weaving a vertical landscape 1

Hong Kong Housing Authority

With a history of 65 years, Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has built almost 180 public rental housing (PRH) estates producing some 800,000 flats in high-rise towers over the past. With the four core values in mind, i.e. caring, customer-focused, creative and committed, HA delivers affordable housing to people in need.

The design of public housing in Hong Kong has been kept evolving to meet changing social needs over time. Our presentation aims at portraying HA’s efforts to provide quality homes to our tenants in a compact yet harmonized; quotidian yet unique context.  By doing so, we build not only towers with our DESIGN know-how and innovative building ELEMENTs; we build communities along our HISTORY and with our PEOPLE.  HA’s exhibit is in the form of 1 entity interweaved with 4 towers, namely :-

  • Tower of history – 40-storey tower showing the organizational culture, community building, tower design evolution and sustainable green features.

  • Tower of design – 40-storey tower revealing the design of the site-specific blocks with the integrated modular flats.

  • Tower of element – 40-storey tower explaining the sustainable construction of public housing towers in terms of pre-casting and mechanized construction technology.

  • Tower of people – 40-storey tower displaying the memories of people in the past and the imagination of the high density urban living in the future.
